A turnaround at TRU? - my little story

I have passed this experience over to Sculpey, and thought I would share it with you all!

I went into TRU Saturday to check to see if I could get a full set of Reborn for Quickman to help him out. They had the usual Mandarin and Ran Knight on the peg, but none of the others. I did the looking under and up, and fund someone's stash where they put Cyber Spawn, She Spawn2, and Mange She Spawn up above to hide them. I thought COOL! I have them all but interlink. So I'll get these at the lower price and find interlink at GameStop (hopefully).

Here is where the surprise came in! As I was waiting in line with my wife and had this handful stack of figures, an employee walked up and asked out of the blue "Did you find all in the series or are there others?" I stared for a second as you can all understand, someone that is helpful at TRU is very uncommon, but someone that walks up and asks you out of the blue when you are checking out - that is about as rare as a 45 leaf clover!

I recovered after my wife kicked my shin, and said there was one I was missing. He asked if I could describe it or show him a picture on the package - so I did. He asked us to hang on, and trotted to the back room. He came back about 5 minutes later with a handful of figures. He said that when he got back there, he couldn't remember which one it was, but did know that it was Red and Black - so he brought out Interlink, Manga She Spawn, and She Spawn 2.

I was elated for Quickman as I could now help him with a full set a little cheaper, but even more excited that there was someone who went out of their way to find them!

Really cool. Now just to find out if it was something in the water and if it was - we need to pipe that to all of them!

My only TRU story is the one I told on the white board about a very strange SW collector I encountered. Nice to hear one of hope for a change!

the folks at my TRU's(all 2 of them) are as helpful as can be, but the shops just don't get much for Spawn figs.

Yeah - I had a similar experience a few months ago too... I was at a TRU when the Marvel Legends Series V came out. I got a Nick Fury, but he was pretty much the only one they had out on the racks. When I was standing in line, one employee said to me "Hey, we just unloaded two cases of those off the truck, are there any others you're looking for?"

I was flabbergasted... I was like "yeah...," hoping I was gonna get me a Red Skull... So he went and got both cases, brought them out and opened them in front of me. No Red Skull, but I got my Colossus and Sabretooth at that time. I thanked him for the help, and he said no problem, and asked if there were any other figures I was looking for.

I was astounded. Thumbs up to that TRU and yours for the great help!! Hope it continues!

Talking to Sculpey on AIM last night, it does aound like something they are trying to get corrected at TRUs.

I forgot to mention that talking further with the guy that went to find the ones for me, it seems that a lot of the figures aren't put out on the pegs immediately anymore, and the floor staff are being "taught" to learn how to distinguish people that are looking to collect, and those that are there to buy all they have to "resell" for whatever reason. I am not sure if that latter item is a local store thing or not, but I do know the manager there is a collector and is tired of having everything scooped up by one or two people and not able to help the other 20 that come in and are looking for one figure to add to the collection.
